Terms of Use

1. General Disclaimer

This software is provided "AS-IS," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. By using this bot and its associated services, you agree to the terms set forth below.

2. Acceptable Use

Users must not take any action intended to render the Service unavailable, unstable, or otherwise unusable for others. In particular:

• Chart submissions. Submitting long or complex charts is permitted. However, users should avoid submitting multiple recording jobs simultaneously, as doing so may degrade Service performance for other users.
• Reporting vulnerabilities. If you discover a method by which the bot can be crashed or otherwise disrupted, you are encouraged (though not required) to report it to the operator. Regardless of whether you choose to report such an issue, you must not intentionally reproduce the action in a manner that negatively affects the Service or its users.

3. Leaderboard Integrity

The /guess command and its associated daily and per-level leaderboards are intended to reflect genuine, good-faith attempts. Users must not:

• Use automated tools, scripts, or third-party software to generate, submit, or accelerate guess attempts.
• Exchange answers between users, operate multiple Discord accounts to farm solves, or otherwise coordinate in a manner that misrepresents individual solve counts or streaks.
• Attempt to extract, infer, or leak the daily answer prior to submitting a guess by any means other than normal gameplay (e.g., inspecting network traffic, probing bot internals, or reading files on the host).
• Tamper with leaderboard data, including leaderboard.csv, daily_leaderboard.txt, or any equivalent record.

The operator reserves the right to invalidate any leaderboard entry, reset any record, or ban any user found to be in violation of this section.

4. Host Security and Restricted Commands

The /update command is reserved for authorized personnel only. Internally, it is capable of extracting arbitrary files into the bot's project directory and restarting the process — in effect, it grants remote code execution on the host. Accordingly:

• Unauthorized invocation of /update, or any attempt to invoke it without a valid credential, is strictly prohibited and will result in an immediate and permanent ban.
• Users must not attempt to bypass, brute-force, or otherwise circumvent the command's authentication, rate-limiting, or lockout mechanisms.
• Users must not submit crafted archives, payloads, or inputs designed to exploit path-traversal, zip-parsing, or file-handling logic in the Service.
• More broadly, any attempt to gain unauthorized access to the host system, the bot's credentials, or any underlying infrastructure — including through the Service's normal commands used in abnormal ways — is prohibited and may be reported to the relevant platform or authorities.

5. Content Guidelines

Users are responsible for ensuring that any content they submit complies with applicable platform rules. Content classified as NSFW or otherwise sensitive must be restricted to channels, roles, or direct messages designated for such content.

All users remain bound by Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines, which take precedence in the event of any conflict with this document.

6. Source Availability and Licensing

Portions of the Service's source code are made publicly available for transparency and community reference. However, the codebase is not published in its entirety:

• The publicly available source may be freely used, studied, modified, and self-hosted.
• Certain components, configuration values, and assets are intentionally withheld from the public source.

7. Enforcement and Account Actions

The operator of the Service reserves the right, at their sole discretion, to restrict, suspend, or ban any user from accessing the Service, with or without cause and with or without prior notice.

8. Non-Commercial Notice

The Service is operated on a non-commercial basis. The operator does not represent a registered company and does not derive revenue from the Service. Voluntary donations, if any, do not create any contractual relationship between the operator and the user, and are neither solicited nor required.

Privacy Policy

The Service collects the minimum information required to operate its features. All data is stored locally on infrastructure controlled by the operator, except where expressly noted below.

1. Leaderboard Data (/guess)

To operate the per-level leaderboard, the Service stores, for each user who submits a correct answer at an eligible difficulty level:

• Discord User ID
• Discord display name (most recently observed; updated on each solve)
• Difficulty level of the solved puzzle
• Cumulative correct-solve count at that level
• Timestamp of the most recent correct solve

This data is persisted to a local CSV file (leaderboard.csv) on the host.

2. Daily Leaderboard Data

To operate the daily puzzle and its associated streak tracking, the Service stores:

• Discord User ID and display name
• Total daily solve count
• Current and longest daily-solve streaks
• Date of the most recent solve
• Per-day attempt records, including attempts used, whether the puzzle was solved, the attempt number on which it was solved, and timestamps for the first and most recent attempts

This data is persisted to a local JSON file (daily_leaderboard.txt) on the host.

3. Chart Recording and Pixeldrain Hosting

When you use the recording features (e.g., /recordchart, /felys), the Service:

• Temporarily processes the chart URL and any audio file you submit, as well as any per-invocation configuration (recording range, duration, display-toggle overrides, etc.).
• Generates a video file and uploads it to a third-party file-hosting service, pixeldrain, under an account controlled by the operator. The resulting URL is posted to the Discord channel where the command was invoked.
• Maintains a local ledger of uploads (pixeldrain-ledger.jsonl) for the sole purpose of automatic cleanup.

Uploaded files are automatically deleted from pixeldrain after 14 days. Uploads to pixeldrain are also subject to pixeldrain's own terms of service and privacy policy, which users are encouraged to review independently.

4. Transient Data

The following data is held in memory only and is not persisted to disk:

• Per-user display-setting overrides for the mai-notes player (expires after one day of inactivity; cleared on bot restart).
• Active /guess puzzle state per channel (expires one hour after creation).

5. Operational Logs

The Service may generate runtime logs (e.g., error traces, API responses from third-party services) for debugging purposes. These logs may incidentally contain Discord user IDs, channel IDs, or command parameters. Logs are retained locally and are not shared with third parties.

6. Scope of Data Collection

The Service does not collect, store, or process any information beyond what is described above. In particular, the Service does not collect message content outside of its own slash- and text-command invocations, does not track users across servers, and does not sell or share data with advertisers.

7. Data Removal Requests

Users who wish to have their leaderboard entries, daily-puzzle records, or uploaded files removed may contact the operator using the contact information below. Requests will generally be honored within a reasonable timeframe, subject to verification of identity.
